SAM MATHEWS HOUSE
AN HISTORIC TROPICAL INN
This gem is considered one of Stuart’s most significant historic homes built in 1913 by Sam Matthew’s as his personal residence. Matthews built the Hotel St. Lucie, Woodmen Hall in 1914, Stuart’s first bank, the Schroeder riverfront home, Kimberly Apartments in 1913, and many more of Stuart’s best. Stuart was incorporated on May 7, 1914 and Sam Matthews was selected one of Stuart’s first aldermen. This ‘key west style’ grand house has been a first class ‘bed and breakfast’ of late. Worth a tour!
